“Listen to this!”, US celeb blogger Perez Hilton screamed back in 2013, “The male/female voices harmonizing is soooo beautiful!” The track was ‘Someday’, the debut single of the young Belgian duo Float Fall. The song buzzed over the internet, a deal with a big major US label followed and then… silence…
Ruben and Rozanne traveled back and forth to LA, got moved from sublabel to sublabel, recorded session after session, but no release followed…
Disillusioned they parted ways with the label, changed management and continued to work on their songs back at home in Brussels.
‘Hard Time Loving You’ is the first result of all this hard work and the first release after 5 years of being stuck in development hell. Recorded in Brussels and finished in London with the help of Rob McAndrews (James Blake) and Luke Smith (Foals), ‘HTLY’ picks up where ‘Someday’ left off; Fresh, modern pop with gripping boy/girl harmonies founded on a simple guitar riff, topped with lush synths and crackling beats. But they added muscle. ‘HTLY’ is big, catchy and beautiful! An anthem for lost broken hearted souls dancing their pain away ‘till dawn.
“We’re as confident as ever and we now have a clear vision on what Float Fall is”, Ruben explains, “We can’t wait to release more music!”
We are delighted to have them back and if ‘Hard Time Loving You’ is only the – new – start, we’re in for an enthralling ride.
‘Hard Time Loving You’ is out on [PIAS] on May 4.
